What is the policy for withdrawal or transfer?
Entry fees are not transferable to other person or event, are valid only for this event edition (2016) and there are no refunds.

Will the race packets be mailed out?
Race packets will not be mailed. All pre-race information is or will be available on this web site. All your race materials such as race numbers, etc. will be given to you when you register in Cozumel.

What time is the sunset on race day?
At approximately 6:30 pm local time.

Do I have to qualify to race in Cozumel Ironman?
No.

Are the distance markers on the Cozumel Ironman in kilometers or miles?
They are in kilometers and miles.

Is there an online discussion group for those wishing to share information about Cozumel Ironman?
No, not at this time.

Will there be live on-line results available on the race day?
You may track athletes during the race via www.ironmanlive.com You will be able to view their splits, as well as portions of each discipline, all the way through the finish line.

Travel information

Which are the host hotels?

How do I get from the airport to my hotel and how much will it cost?
There are reliable shuttle van services to and from the airport. The cost varies depending if it is private or shared. Rental cars are also available at the airport.

Will my driver speak English?
Almost all Cozumel taxi drivers speaks English.

How do I get my bike from the Cozumel airport to my hotel?
You can take it with you on the shuttle van. An extra fee may apply.

What cell phone services are available?
Cozumel has excellent GSM cell service. Unlocked GSM international phones with international service will work. However, you can also obtain a local SIM card.

What kind of a visa do I need to enter Mexico / Cozumel and how do I get one?
Some countries may need a tourist visa to enter the country, however citizens of the USA, CAN and most European countries do not need a visa to enter Mexico. In order to secure a tourist visa, your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond your intended stay. Please contact the Mexican Embassy or Consulate in your home country for further information.

Where is Cozumel and how do I get there?
Cozumel is an island in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico. It's privileged location on the Mexican Caribbean makes it a top tourist destination. The best way to arrive to Cozumel is through the Cozumel International Airport (CZM). There are direct flights from many US cities (Houston, New York, Miami, Atlanta, Dallas, Charlotte, Denver).

There´s direct flights to Cozumel from the Mexico City International Airport, you can also can fly to Cancun International Airport, then take a shuttle or a bus to Playa del Carmen (50 minute trip) and then cross to Cozumel in a ferry boat (40 minute trip) station.

Ultramar and México Waterjetsboat ferry services from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel run continuously and take approximately 40 minutes.

What is the timing system used for the event?
Ipico Sports.

What can I do if I couldn't get to Cozumel before friday,  by noon?
We highly recommend all athletes arrive on time to pick up your package competition no later than 6:00 pm. No packages will be delivered or bike recieved the day of competition NO EXCEPTIONS.

What are the race distances?
3.8K (2.4mi) swim / 180K (112mi) bike / 42.2K (26.2mi) run.

How many qualifying slots are there for Hawaii and how are they distributed?
Soon you will know hoy many slots for Hawaii that will be distributed to age groups according to the formula set down by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC).

Will there be relays?
No.

I didn't turn in my timing chip after the race. Can I send it back so I won't be charged a "lost chip" fee?
Chips must be returned as instructed in the race materials or your card will be charged $50 USD.

What are the cut-off times?
Swim: 2 hour 20 minutes; Bike: 10:30 hours after the start; Run: 17 hours after the start.

Athletes not making the swim cut-off time will be conducted to the Transition Area and allowed to continue the race on a declassified basis.

If I have my own chip, can I use it?
No.

Are disk wheels allowed?
Due to the strong winds all full disc wheels are NOT allowed, all others like three spoke or similar are fine.

Swim information

Is the swim a mass start?
Yes.

Are we starting in the water or is it a beach start?
It is an in-water start.

Are wetsuits allowed?
No.

Services and Amenities

Whom do I contact about massage during the race week?
Many hotels have their own spa facilities that offer massages.

Will there be live on-line results available on the race day?
They will be available after each stage of the competition
